I believe, simply, that patients will benefit the most from therapy when they are intrinsically motivated to participate in the process and when they feel completely comfortable with and trusting of the therapist.
I know that lasting improvement comes easiest in a non-judgemental setting, where whatever concerns you have can be discussed and solved together.
I am primarily CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) oriented. This means that I work closely with each person to help them understand and identify their feelings and behaviors and to develop practical and realistic solutions to their problems. I also believe in the value of identifying the origin of these emotions and actions and using relaxation & mindfulness strategies as accompanying tools.
I have been a practicing neuropsychologist and psychotherapist for almost 20 years. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages and with all types of presenting problems. However, I have developed a specialty in working with individuals with mild to severe attention, learning, cognitive and physical disabilities, and their caregivers.
Adjustment, depression, anxiety, anger management, grief, chronic health issues, neurological injuries and disease and caregiver support.
